Imina Technologies SA was born from the idea that conventional nanopositioning instruments used by scientists at the forefront of research in materials science and nanoelectronics were greatly lacking flexibility to easily adapt to new experiments and their ever-changing needs. Over 10 years of research in high precision robotics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland (EPFL) demonstrated that a mobile robot equipped with a novel motion technology could help filling that gap.
In 2009, the company was co-founded by Guillaume Boetsch and Benoît Dagon, both young microengineers with a few years of academic research experience and alumni of the EPFL Robotic Systems Laboratory (LSRO). A year later, the commercialization of Imina Technologies’ pioneering miBot™ was started, making available to the research community the world's most compact mobile robot with nanometer resolution of positioning and centimeters travel range. In a dynamic start-up environment, Imina Technologies quickly won several awards (KPMG Tomorrow's Market Award, Venture Kick, Venture Leaders) and gained recognition among Switzerland entrepreneurship experts (CTI Label, Top100 best Swiss start-ups).
From 2015, Imina Technologies has focused its precision engineering and robotics expertise into helping the semiconductor industry making safer products. Innovative electrical probing solutions have been released on the market to address an increasing number of applications, including devices characterization for reliability testing and electrical failure analyses. The modularity of these solutions enables deep integration with a variety of microscopy and semiconductor test equipment, making them enjoyed by a growing number of customers around the globe.
