Vacuum Transfer Module for Air-Sensitive Samples

Some materials such as those used for batteries are sensitive to oxygen, so they need to be kept in controlled environment and handled in e.g. argon atmosphere inside a glove boxes.

To characterize electrical and mechanical properties of such materials, or to observe them in-operando inside SEM, our partners from Alemnis have designed a Vacuum Transfer Module (VTM).

The VTM ensures seamless transfer from a glovebox to the electron microscope chamber while maintaining a controlled environment around the sample.

Now the VTM smoothly integrates with our nanoprobing system. The picture below shows the workflow: the sample is stored mounted onto VTM inside the glove box, sealed and transferred into the SEM. There, the VTM can be opened as soon as the SEM chamber is pumped.

Such setup helps to streamline the characterization of air-sensitive materials e.g. those used for batteries.
